Hundreds of acres of standing crops at Gonisomanahalli, Ghattadahalli, Sooranayakanahalli and Dyavappanahalli have been submerged in the floods resulting from the rain since Tuesday night. The Gangammanakatte canal breached in five places, destroying maize and ginger crops. The rainwater also entered coconut groves, posing a severe threat to the
yield.

Transport has been hit in areas between Shivanenahalli and Javagal after rainwater flooded the roads. Dyavappanahalli tank, too, flowed above the danger mark, while the swollen Doddakodihalli tank posed a flood threat.

In Arakalgud taluk of the district, 10 houses collapsed at Konanooru and two at Holenarasipur. In Dakshina Kannada district, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning submerged several low-lying areas.

The Puttur and Sullia taluks recorded 49mm and 48.4mm of rain, respectively. The rain damaged roads in some areas of the district, putting the commuters in trouble.
