Varalaxmi had filed two dowry-related complaints with the Siddapura police. Varalaxmi’s daughter Bindu’s marriage was on the rocks after her husband Sreenivas Murthy was demanding dowry. Though the case was registered in 2008, the charge sheet had not been filed. Varalaxmi approached the City Police Commissioner and Gowda was made the investigating officer. Meanwhile, he was allegedly pestering the complainant for sexual favours and money to file the charge sheet.
After listening to the telephonic conversation, Lokayukta sleuths trapped the SI near Ragi Gudda.
