BU reverses decision on exam centre for foreign students

Last Updated 03 November 2010, 18:06 IST

According to Registrar (Evaluation) T R Subramanya the decision taken by the Core Committee on Examination in October has been reversed. As a policy the Committee had declared that all foreign students would have to write the exams starting on November 9 at the Kristu Jayanti College, K Narayanapura, Kothanur (Post).

However, the decision did not augur well for colleges and students, who criticised the move as being 'discriminatory and unfeasible'. They argued that foreign students, who are generally unacquainted with the City's thoroughfares, would find it difficult to rush to a distant centre early in the morning. Further, the colleges contended that the move would amount to discrimination against foreign students.

Although Registrar (Administration) R M Ranganath had earlier defended the decision saying that it was aimed at providing ‘good ambience and special attention’ to foreign students, he now stated that it could be reversed once the Vice Chancellor returned from China.
He further asked all college principals to inform foreign students about the change in decision. For more information contact: 2224 4082, 2296 1013.
