Joy, nervousness and excitement all become a part of memory that stay forever. Metrolife asked a few students of St Joseph’s College of Diploma Management and St Joseph’s College, Bachelor of Business Management about their first day in the college.
St Joseph’s College of Diploma Management

“I was totally lost in this big college. Instead of sitting in my class, I sat in some other class. I came to know about it only after Father took the roll call,” said Sneha Lakshmi, a first year PGDM student. Though she was not nervous that day but she still sat in a corner, all by herself. “But once the orientation programme was over, I mingled with others,” she said.

The best part, she remembers, on the first day was the information on the dress code and rules that the students are supposed to follow in the college. “They scared us with the dress code and rules, but now they are hardly followed," she added.

Clint Winston, Sneha's classmate did not have any problem as he had done his Bachelors from the same college. Most of his classmates were new to him, the orientation programme and 'Group Dynamics' made him interact with most of his classmates. “I know almost all of them now.” Praising the seniors, Winston said, “They were really nice to us and there was no incident of ragging in the college.”

But not all were as bold as Clint and Sneha were, some of them were nervous and felt that other students are 'geeks' than they are. “I was a bit nervous. I feared that other students might be more intelligent than me,” said Guru Raj. All the three students said that the orientation programme helped them to shed their fear and become friends.
St Joseph’s BBM College

At St Joseph’s BBM College, there was fun on first day. The old chairs that were laid for the students to sit gave up once some heavy weight students sat on them. Some of the students landed on the ground with a huge thump.

“It (first day) will be memorable, as a funny incident happened on our first day," said Rebecca Vieyra, a first year BBM student. Both Rebecca and Rachel Jose, shared the same feeling that they were clueless about what was going to happen on their first day. They were a bit nervous about the college and the environment there.

The college had an anti-ragging squad that helped juniors from the clutches of seniors. “Few senior students were waiting to rag us, but we were saved because of the anti-ragging squad,” said Jesu Vishal.
