Nurses demand regularisation

These nurses are from taluk hospitals, private health centres, community health centres and government hospitals across the State. Being contract employees, they are not entitled to hike in salary, leave facilities, insurance coverage and provident fund.

Several memorandums have been submitted to government officials in this regard but no action has been taken yet, nurses said.

“Contract basis doctors get paid Rs 100 less than permanent doctors, but we get 50 per cent less salary compared to permanent nurses,” said Chandrashekhar V M,  President, Karnataka State Contract Basis Nurses Association.
