Monthly passes for bus passengers on anvil

The concession pass will be made valid from November 15 onwards. Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Canara Bus Owner’s Association President K Rajaverma Ballal said that Canara Bus Operator’s Association has formed Canara Combined Transport (CCT) with 125 buses and the concession passes will be valid in all buses displaying white and red stickers displayed on front wind shield of CCT. The monthly concession passes will have validity for 30 days and one needs to purchase forty coupons at a time to avail the concession.

Passes can be obtained by submitting applications paying Rs 50 and identity card will be issued, which will be valid for one year. The concession pass number will be entered in the identity card every month.

The application forms will be issued from Wednesday  onwards at Canara Bus Owner’s office at bus stand in Mangalore, Sugama tourist at Udupi and Durgamba motors at Kundapura. Mukambika bus owner Kishan Hegde said that passenger who will have to pay Rs 38 for travelling from Mangalore to Udupi will have to pay just Rs 21 with coupon in hand.

Similarly cost of ticket for Udupi-Kundapura will be reduced from Rs 27 to Rs 16.50 and cost of ticket for Mangalore-Mulky will be cut down from Rs 19 to Rs 12.
