Deccan Herald had recently carried a report in this regard. Acting on the report, the Gram Panchayat closed the pipe with a metal sheet and firmed it wires. It has also placed large boulders on it in order to prevent people from removing the metal sheet.

According to law anybody including government must remove the casing pipe and close the area if water is not found when a borewell is sunk.

In case of low groundwater level, the casing pipe must be capped for future use and to prevent any toward incident, said Taluk Panchayat CEO K V Amarnath. Lauding the print media, he said newspapers act like watch dogs and ensure efficiency among various government machinery.
