Nawtinder was stabbed while trying to save Ramachandra, a RPF constable who was being assaulted by the robbers. He is survived by wife and two young children aged nine and three years. He was an outstanding sportsman and a motivated soldier throughout his career. The police managed to arrest four accused including one sex worker for their alleged role in the matter.
