Govt to make right to justice a fundamental right: Moily

"We (the law ministry) are already working on a system to make right to justice a fundamental right," said Moily in his inaugural address to the 23rd Law Asia conference here.

Maintaining that denial of justice is one of the main reasons for the growth of Naxalism in this country, the Law Minister also stressed upon making legal aid programme more effective and efficient so that all the sections of the society, including the poor, could have better access to justice.

"We need to have efficient legal system in the country to achieve inclusive growth. I will try to work on the system where we could have an efficient band of lawyers to provide aids especially to the weaker section of the society," Moily said.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice R V Raveendran, a senior Supreme Court judge, said better access to justice is required for the uplifting the poor."Unless justice is provided to the teeming millions, the problem of extremism will be there," Justice Raveendran said.
He said efficient and experienced lawyers are needed to ensure that justice is delivered to the weaker sections of the society
