The bridge, which connects Bagepalli town to NH 7 and places like Jilakarapalli and Thimmakalapalli villages had collapsed decades ago due to floods in Chitravati. However the dam on river Chitravati had not been constructed that time.

The people of Jilakarapalli and Thimmakalapalli villages had   to travel an extra 6 km covering NH 7 to reach their villages. The bridge on SBM road was also used as a bypass road connecting the National Highway. The collapse of bridge had created many problems for the people.

Nabard

The bridge has been constructed under the supervision of Public Works Department under the NABARD’s KRDCL scheme. The opening of the bridge for vehicular movement has come as a relief to the schools and colleges on the other side of the bridge, as students could now circumvent travelling 6 km on NH 7 to reach the place. Engineer B S Narasimhamoorthy had supervised the construction of the bridge.
