Senior citizen dies after tree falls on him

 The victim Sadashivaiah (68), a retired commercial tax officer was living with his wife and daughter at Mallige Garden on Magadi Road.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at 1.30 pm, when he was on his way to a bank at MC Layout.

The BBMP is constructing a compound for the indoor stadium at Vijayanagar for which an earth excavator has been engaged. When the digging was going on a tree fell on the road and to his misfortune, it fell on Sadashivaiah.

The operator of the excavator is absconding.

The police have registered cases against the driver and the contractor.

Housing Minister V Somanna rushed to the spot and has assured a job in the BBMP to one of the family members and a compensation of Rs one lakh from the BBMP.
