'Packaged food will be withdrawn'

The Minister who went to Banappa Park to meet the protesters, assured them that hot meals cooked at the anganwadi centres will replace packaged food. He said that a decision would be taken on November 20.

The protest entered its fourth day on Thursday and the protesters are yet to decide if they will continue their agitation. Vice President of Anganwadi Workers Union Leelavathi said they would wait until November 20 to see if the Minister keeps his word, before deciding the next course of action.

It may be recalled that one of the first things the Minister promised after taking charge was that they would stop the distribution of packaged food and provide hot cooked mealsfor children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and adolescents. But after the announcement, nothing has been done about it.
