Cong welcomes PM's 2G remark; says party 'epitome of morality'

The party also attacked BJP over the issue of corruption daring it to take action against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddurappa over the allegations of irregularities in allotment of land to his kin in Karnataka.

"BJP is a devotee of corruption while Congress is an epitome of morality and stands for value-based politics. Therefore, if anything emerges in the public space, which even remotely impinges on political probity, then Congress party and UPA have always acted," party spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters here.

He said the Prime Minister today reiterated "firm commitment" that "whoever is found guilty will not be spared".

Tewari said it needs to recalled that it was UPA government led by Manmohan Singh which had ordered a "suo motu CBI probe" into the matter.

Breaking his silence amidst the logjam in Parliament, the Prime Minister today promised action against anybody for any "wrong thing" done in the 2G spectrum allocation.

"There should be no doubt in anybody's mind that if any wrong thing has been done by anybody, he or she will be brought to book," Singh said in his first comments on the 2G spectrum issue that has paralysed Parliament for the last two weeks.

The Congress spokesperson also dared the BJP to "take action against Yedduruppa", whom he termed as "the greatest land-grabber in the history of Karnataka".

Tewari said BJP should introspect instead of "preaching morality" to everybody.
