Government has not got back on JPC demand, says BJP

Last Updated 20 November 2010, 13:33 IST

Party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said they had not heard from the government after an assurance was given by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during the luncheon meeting earlier this week that he will revert to the Opposition leaders after talking to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The luncheon meeting was held to break the impasse in Parliament over the demand for JPC.

"Shri Pranab Mukherjee assured the meeting that he will get back after talking to the prime minister. Till date he has not conveyed any formal proposal to enable the opposition to take a final view," Prasad said.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley had attended the luncheon meeting.

The proceedings in parliament have been repeatedly disrupted over the past two weeks over the opposition's demand for a JPC.
