Teen ends life over dowry demand

Kusuma was married to her first cousin, Kumar, for about two months. At the time of marriage, her family had given Rs 1.5 lakhs as dowry to Kumar. However, Kusuma was continuously harassed by Kumar and his parents to get more dowry, the police said. 

Kusuma was pursuing II PUC in a private college in Jayanagar and had come to her parents house on account of the ‘Ashaada’ month. On Wednesday morning, on her way to college near South End Circle, Jayanagar, she fainted and was rushed to a nearby private hospital where she was declared dead. Post mortem report revealed that the deceased had consumed poison.

Earlier in the day her husband Kumar had visited her. Police said Kusuma had recorded the order of events in her personal diary which also contained information about the harassment by her husband and her in-laws to get more dowry. A case has been registered at Chamarajpet Police Station.

Body found on rly tracks

35-year-old man from Kerala was found dead on the railway tracks here on Wednesday.

The Railway police are yet unable to ascertain if it was case of an accident or a suicide.

The train ran over Anup Adityan, a native of Thrissur in Kerala between the Elagi and Anekal Railway stations in Byapanahalli division limits.

He had booked two private bus tickets from Sangli to Bangalore, and from Bangalore to Thrissur. “It is not clear what he was doing on the railway tracks. His family members have arrived in the City to collect the body,” said a top GRP official. The post-mortem was completed at Bowring Hospital on Thursday afternoon. The accident would have taken place around 9.30 am, the sources said.

Adityan had just completed his education in London and was keen on setting up an old age home in Bangalore, police added.
