'Value-based education is a must'

Inaugurating the Bhagamandala Government model Primary School centenary year celebrations, Muthappa said that people who join the anti-national activities are often those who are highly educated.

“In such a situation imparting valued based education is a must. Children should not be moulded as mere machineries but they should be shaped into responsible citizens who know the ground realities and the problems existing in the society,” he said adding that the State government is emphasising a lot on education and is allocating huge sum for imparting education.

A total of Rs 1,730 lakh has been spent in the district for education alone while Rs 435 lakh has been spent for mid day meal scheme.

District Kannada Sahithya Parishat President T P Ramesh released the souvenir. He said that it is only through education that any individual can improve his personality.Bhagamandala Cauvery Pre University College retired principal K S Gopal said that primary education lays the foundation for any child’s learning process.

“Let children be serious about studies at this stage itself. Let them learn as much as possible and make their foundation strong,” he said. Zilla Panchayat Member P M Rajeev presided over the programme.
