Speaking after inaugurating the programme, DC Hemalatha said awareness on AIDS is more essential and plays a crucial role in the prevention of the virus.
Measures should be taken to create awareness among masses in larger scale. About 30 per cent of the infected persons across the district belong to migratory workers class.
However, there is more percentage of HIV positive cases reported among the non migratory classes. There are many infected persons from the district who live in Gulf countries, she added.
Society is borne with the responsibility of creating awareness against the virus as it is the only way out to prevent the virus from spreading, she added.
Hemalatha administered the oath to the students present.
