A building of British era, which happens to be a ‘Pravasi mandir’ (tourist bungalow) is breathing its last due to apathy of Public Works Department. Situated in the heart of the city, this ancient building often goes unnoticed. Today it is a safe abode for anti-social elements and the condom packets, liquor bottles, cigarette filters and packets, torn clothes, worn out vessels, foul smell of toilets and dung stand proof to this. The window panes of the structure have been already damaged and stolen by miscreants.

Ambedkar Bhavana is situated in close proximity to this building. Janaspandana programme, Grama Sabhe meetings etc are held in the Bhavana regularly where elected representatives make their presence felt. Yet passing by this building, none feel the need to restore the glory of this building.

The building is 3300 ft above the sea level and is facing west. It has been built in such a way that the building gets natural ventilation. The flooring of the building, though built during British era, is still intact.

Thespian Dr Raj Kumar had stayed in the same building when he was there to shoot for his films like ‘Sharapanjara’ and ‘Sakshathkara’.
