I don’t see any point in making such a huge mountain out of a mole hill,” says Deepika, who was recently in the City to promote her latest film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (KHJJS).<br /><br />The promotion was a special one for her, especially since it was in her hometown. She is blatant about the fact that she is not completely fluent in Kannada but manages to speak a few lines. “One thing is for sure, I can never forget where I come from. I love Bangalore and after all, it’s the place where my film career started. When I was told that we would be promoting the film in my home city, I was more than happy,” says Deepika, whose was first seen in Aishwarya. <br /><br />So why haven’t we seen her in any other Kannada film? “I have been busy in Bollywood but that does not mean I have completely shut myself off Kannada films. A good script will surely get me back here but not at the moment as my hands are full,” she says. <br /><br />Playing the role of a real life revolutionary Kalpana Dutta in KHJJS for her was a <br />challenge especially since she was constrained by the story the film was based on. <br />But what made it even more interesting was the uncanny resemblance she had to the real Kalpana. <br /><br />When asked if it was the director Ashutosh Gowariker, script or her role that made her say yes to the project, she answers, “It was a combination of all. It is important to know who is making the film and no doubt getting Ashutosh as a director this early in my career was an added bonus.” Known for her glamourous avatar, Deepika says that she had no inhibitions on going de-glam for the role. “The sari was glamourous,” she laughs while adding, “I have never considered any role as ‘glamourous’ or ‘non-glamourous’ one. With every growing role, I only hope on giving my best and do films that I will be proud of.”</p>
