Man burnt by school boy for refusing cigarette

Rajinder Kumar, who owned a shop at Hali Mandi near Pataudi palace was approached by a Class XI student for a cigarette on credit on December 7.

The two entered into an argument after Kumar insisted for the payment. The youth left the shop enraged and came back with a can of petrol and set the shop ablaze while Kumar was still inside.

He was caught by the nearby shopkeepers and later handed over to the police.
Kumar was taken to a nearby private hospital and later referred to Safdarjung hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following his death, the market remained closed and shopkeepers held a protest near Sadar Bazaar demanding Rs 25 lakh as compensation for the family.Meanwhile, Police Commissioner (Gurgaon) Surjit Singh Deswal has transferred the SHO of Pataudi for dereliction of duty to police line.

The police had registered an FIR against the accused under Sec 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC on December 6 and taken him into custody
