Villagers demand eviction of wine shop

They said that shop has disturbed the harmony in the village and has made many youth addicted to alcohol.

It has destroyed the peace among the villagers and have posed a threat to the peaceful coexistence. The liquor shop is also a threat to the communal harmony in the village, they added.

Despite several pleas and protests, the wine shop continue to operate. Women find it difficult to walk on the streets after the sunset, while many houses have witnessed theft since the opening of the shop, they said.

The district administration and the officials concerned should initiate immediate measures to close the bar, the villagers urged.

Ryots told to innovate

The farmer’s should go for innovation in agriculture as it would fetch more income for them, opined K Sundar Nayak, chief executive officer of Zilla Panchayat.

Speaking after launching the ‘Bhoochethana’ programme organised by agriculture department here, he said the crops which require minimum process, fetches good returns for the farmers.

The district is blessed with abundant natural resources besides having the Agriculture Research Centre. The ryots have more options for adopting innovative technology in growing commercial crops.

The” Bhoochethana” programme aims to increase the fertility of the soil, the CEO added. Dr C Doreswamy, planning coordinator of Hardanahalli Krishi Vijnana Kendra asked the farmers to use organic fertilisers to protect the fertility of the soil. They should also get the soil tested at the research centre, he added. District agriculture joint director B M Shivamalu, Deputy Director Annaiah, Water Shed Development Officer Lakshman Kallannanavar and others were present.

UID card

The department e -administration has asked the farmers with irrigation pumpsets to submit the identification number of their pumpset while registering for the Aadhar card.
