The Congress and the JD(S) would have to sit in the Opposition forever, he claimed.

Speaking to presspersons at Bajpe airport, before leaving to take part in the 80th birthday celebrations of Pejawar seer Vishweshatheertha in Udupi he said: “We will work as per our plans. We could not achieve success in the ZP and TP elections all these years. However, this time, we will achieve success beyond our expectations.”

Referring to the allegations that BJP was misusing power and involved in the distribution of money and liquor to win the elections, he said that the scams involving opposition parties have already been placed before the voters.

To a query on Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde’s statement that he would function as an Opposition party, he said: “I will not react to the statements of Lokayukta and Governor.”
Advani slams UPA govt

Advani was strongly critical of the UPA government for the scandals arising out of the conduct of the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games.

The former Union Home Minister said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government which had in 2003 decided to conduct the Asiad 2010 in New Delhi, had also decided to turn the Games Village into a hostel for poor students, after the games ended.

But the Manmohan Singh government had built the village like a posh apartment complex, giving rise to corruption and waste of resources, he said.

That was all the senior BJP leader, who had announced that he had “taken leave a short break from politics”would say under the prodding of journalists.
