Harmison’s six-wicket haul for England Lions against Australia at Worcester went in vain as England retained faith in Onions for the first Test at Cardiff starting on Wednesday.
“We were keen to show consistency in selection ... Graham Onions has made an excellent start to his Test career and gives us a different option,” national selector Geoff Miller said.
