Hassan girl plans a record feat

Twelve-year-old Swathi Bharadwaj of Hassan will be performing at GMC Balayogi Auditorium in Andhra Pradesh, to get her name entered in the Guinness book of world records, on December 26. She has to dance continuously for four- and- a- half hours to achieve this rare feat.

At a news conference here on Friday, she said, so far, she has given 515 dance performances across the State. The competition, jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh Government and Silicon Andhra, is opened for the children below 18 years of age.  While the rehearsal will be held on December 24 and the finals on December 26. As many as 13 dancers from all over the country are expected to participate in this competition.

“Having experience of dancing continuously for three hours, I am practicing rigorously to break the world record”, she noted.

Swathi said for the first four hours she has to dance and another 30 minutes is for Tillana in Andhra style for which she has prepared fully. Now, the record is in the name of a girl who has danced continuously for two hours and 43 minutes. “I am fully prepared to create a new record”, she added.
