<p>Winner Mohammad Irfan Qureshi presented a paper in the field of plant molecular biology titled 'Introducing the Weedomics: Understanding the Tolerance Mechanism of Weeds'.<br /><br />The conference held Dec 8-10 was organised by Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and Entomological Society of India in Delhi.<br /><br />"The organising committee appreciated the newly introduced concept of Weedomics and expressed that with time this branch of science will grow into an independent area," the statement said.<br /><br />"The conference was attended by eminent scientists from the US, Australia, Brazil among others," it added.<br /><br />The 35-year-old Mohammad Irfan Qureshi joined the university in 2006 as an assistant professor in the department of biosciences and shifted to the biotechnology department in 2009. <br /><br />Qureshi did his Ph.D. 2004 from Hamdard University and earned his Masters' degree in science 1999. He has several other awards in his kitty, including the SERC-DST Young Scientist Award given by Department of Science and Technology, 2008. <br /><br />He was also awarded with Independent Research Associateship by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).<br /></p>
