College life is incomplete without cultural activities. These activities not just enrich the lives of the students and ignite a spark of creativity in them, but also give them ample of opportunities to discover their hidden talents. The students of APS Degree College have formed cultural clubs which are a confluence of various talents.

The cultural team of the boys is called Hard Rockers while that of the girls is called Aayu.

These teams have been performing in the college for the past two years.

The Hard Rockers even took part in a Kannada reality show. The team consists of nearly twenty members and is headed by Lakshmi Narasimha, a final year B Com student.

“Dance is my passion and I have been practicing it since my school days. This college has given me a platform to develop my talent in the right spirit and I’m very grateful for that,” he says.

The Hard Rockers focus mainly on folk dance but they perform other dance forms as well.

“We specialise in Kamsale, Dollu Kunitha and Veeragaase. But we also perform fusion, hip-hop and Western dance,” says Karthik N, a member.

Aayu, the dance team of the girls, is headed by Khusboo S, a final year degree student.

“Aayu means years in Kannada and the club has been existence for the past two years. We are a team of 25 girls and specialise in Rajasthani folk dance. We perform other dance forms as well,” she says.

When asked whether the college is supportive of their activities, the students say, “The Principal and lecturers encourage us a lot and have even provided financial assistance.”

The cultural team is also planning to launch a new theatre troupe since the college does not have any.

“Although we have a few people, who volunteer and stage plays, we don’t have a proper team. We are planning to start a theatre team and invite well-known personalities from the theatre world,” says Shamili M, a commerce student.

Vishwas, a multi-talented final year commerce student, plays different kinds of instruments like djambe, bongo, drums and keyboard.

“Our college has provided us a a great platform to express our talent. The collective effort of every team member has brought laurels to the institution as well as immense satisfaction to each one of us. It has contributed to our overall development. The teams radiate the spirit of oneness that go beyond the walls of the classrooms,” he sums up.
