Dreams, an evening of fabulous dance performances and striking fashion shows put together by the students of Body Language dance school, was held recently in the City.  The young and dynamic students of ‘Body Language’ presented 12 acts of dance and fashion with speed and grace in the 90-minute-long event which stole the hearts of the audience.

Directed and choreographed by M S Sreedhar, the recitals were performed with great panache.

Before the dance numbers, Priya Nayak, one of the finalists of Miss India 2005, gave awards to some of the outstanding students of the school.  Titled Swan Lake, the first act was brief and effective. The dance consisted of a scene from Swan Lake at the queen’s banquet held for the prince to choose his bride.

The dancers performed the Napolitano dance with their tambourines. The second dance piece took the audience into a world of contemporary jazz where teens with perfect bodies danced to the beats of Parachute by Cheryl Cole. The act was choreographed by Keerthana Ravi.

A team comprising little girls showcased their talents by shaking their legs to various dance forms from disco to free style.  Looking pretty in their golden tunic dresses, the girls garnered a lot of appreciation.

The Twilight Saga brought out the spirit of fashion with a strong sense of individuality. Inspired from the shades of midnight black and red, the costumes included long capes, gowns and corsets designed by Anita Kholay. Up next was a jugalbandhi between Indian classical and power jazz called East Meets West.  This pulsating combination of two popular genres produced a new form of dance to the music of Swamp Thing.

One of the major attractions of the event was a fusion dance to the hit Shakira song Waka Waka with a captivating combination of various dance forms. On the whole, the event witnessed the coming together of dance, fusion and glamour under one roof and proved to be a thrilling experience for the audience.
