Poll campaign ends in 12 districts

As per the Panchayat Raj Act campaign for the polls should end 48 hours before the voting begins. But the candidates and party workers can continue door-to-door campaign not exceeding five members in a group.

The zilla panchayats and taluk panchayats in 12 districts - including Bangalore Urban and Bangalore Rural districts - are going for the polls on December 26. Other districts are Ramanagara, Chitradurga, Kolar, Chikballapur, Shimoga, Tumkur, Bidar, Bellary, Raichur and Yadgir.

As many as 34 ZP seats of Bangalore Urban and 18 in Bangalore Rural will go for polls. Voting will take place between 7 am and 5 pm on Sunday. Counting of votes is scheduled on January 4. The State Government has prohibited sale of liquor in these districts between 7 am on December 25 to midnight on December 26-27.
