Last Updated 30 December 2010, 18:50 IST

The report of the Wage Boards would then be examined by the Labour and Employment Ministry before being put up before the Cabinet for its approval, said a top official in the ministry.

The Boards were constituted three years back for the purpose of fixing or revising rates of wages in respect of working journalists and non-journalists and other newspaper employees. The official said the recommendations would be taken “seriously” by the ministry.

The term of the Wage Boards under the chairmanship of Justice G R Majithia had come to an end on May 23. However, Justice Majithia had sought an extension up to December 31 to submit his report.
