The two-and-a-half year old leopard had been killing dogs, cattle, and sheep, in and around Kunchur for several days now. The Forest Department personnel set a trap on Tuesday night; the leopard entered the cage, in a corner of which a goat was tied.
Soon after the leopard entered, the gate of the cage was closed, and the leopard was trapped.
The leopard was brought to the Range Forest Office in the City on Wednesday.
People thronged the place to have a look at the captured animal, and a veterinarian held a check-up.
Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) K G Basvarajappa said that the leopard would be sent to a zoo or forest area, as per instructions from higher officials.
