<p>The event, organised in association with the Deccan Herald-Prajavani to commemorate the centenary celebrations of late V Lakshminarayana, witnessed renowned violinists from the United States, Algeria, Russia and Norway performing to a packed hall along with violinist of international fame, Dr L Subramaniam.<br /><br />In the beginning, the artistes from the US presented a separate performance. Later, eight violinists under the direction of Dr L Subramanian presented an ensemble on the theme for about thirty minutes. <br /><br />The entry to the event was free and the Hall was full to its capacity even before the event began. The audience responded with a standing ovation. Prof V Lakshminarayana award was conferred on renowned Carnatic vocalist, Dr R K Srikantan on the occasion.<br /><br /> Ambi Subramanian, the son of Dr L Subramanian was felicitated with a reward of Rs 50,000. All the overseas artistes were honoured with a purse of Rs 10,000 each.<br /><br />Earlier, Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa, Additional Chief Secretary K Jairaj, litterateur Dr U R Ananthamurthy and Prajavani editor K N Shanth Kumar inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp. Dr R K Srikantan will perform at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Thursday and the entry to the concert is free.</p>
