Russian molested at Goa beach, one held

The 20-year-old Russian tourist was sun-bathing at the famous beach in north Goa, some 50 km from here, when the incident happened.

Superintendent of Police (North) Arvind Gawas said that accused Sai Kiran was arrested immediately after the victim raised an alarm at the beach.

"She had come to the beach with her boyfriend, who had gone swimming, when Sai Kiran befriended her. He then misbehaved with her. When the victim raised an alarm, the life guards and police stationed at the beach rushed there and nabbed the accused," Gawas said

The accused would be produced before a local court for remand, he said.According to police, Sai Kiran had come to Goa with two other friends who were being traced.The incident once again raised the question of safety of women tourists in Goa beaches, which have gained notoriety in recent times after a number of high profile sex crimes against foreign women tourists.
