Setting the stage on fire

Recognising Talents

Entertaining : Srujan Lokesh and Radhika Pandit.

The red carpet at the Ambedkar Bhavan saw celebrities from various walks of life sashaying into the auditorium. The evening was graced by many film personalities like Srinath, Nagabharna, Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, Upendra, Sadhu Kokila, Komal, Dwarkish, T N Seetharam, Sihikahi Chandru, Sihikahi Geetha, Radhika Pandit etc.

If some of them gave away awards and performed on stage, there were others who lend their support by just being there. No award show is complete without performances by the stars. Sharmila Mandre, Pooja Gandhi and Neettoo set the stage on fire as they grooved to popular film songs. “Television stars are a part of every family but they are hardly recognised or given credit. That’s why I wanted to show my appreciation and lend my support by performing for them,” said Pooja Gandhi.

Other performances included Vibes, Sye 2, Swapna Raj, Rakesh from the Mane Onthu Mooru Baagulu fame. There were also child performers Ohleshwari and Sachin who received a loud round of applause from the audience.

Mimicry Dayanand imitated veteran TV actor Srinath live on stage. And that too, right in the presence of the actor. Daring indeed, but Srinath took it in his stride and responded by giving him a nine on ten for the act, followed by a big hug. A troupe of dancers marked the beginning of the show, which was followed by the first round of awards.

The evening then proceeded with a special act scripted by the stand-up comedian Dayanand, who brought laughter into the auditorium. This was followed by a skit with TV anchor Srujan Lokesh.

“It was really nice to see people finally recognising talents across various genres of Kannada industry, from technicians to musicians to actors. They literally come to our homes everyday through the small screen and entertain us. So they deserve every bit of this,” said a guest.
