Taking serious note of the incident, the DSP has suspended the concerned cop.
Gokul Singh Gond's (tribal) 16-year-old daughter, Sohagvati died under mysterious circumstances on January 7 following which tribal panchayat of Durminia village decided to inform the police about the incident, police said.

On January 8, ASI, Sunderlal Tiwari reached the village and recorded the death in the presence of five persons and directed them to take the body to the Anooppur District Hospital for autopsy, situated nearly nine km away from the village without making any arrangements for transporting the body.

The village has one tractor, but on that day it was not available while a driver of the jeep present on the spot refused to carry the body to the hospital.

Following this, Gond decided to carry the body on a bicycle by attaching two bamboos across the back carrier and put the body on it by tying it with a rope.

The poor tribal pedalled all the way (nine km) to reach hospital for conducting autopsy of his daughter.

However, after the post-mortem, local Congress MLA, Bisahulal Singh reached the hospital and made arrangements for transporting the body for cremation to the village in an ambulance.

Taking serious note of the incident, district Superintendent of Police (SP) has suspended ASI Tiwari for negligence in duties.
