Top seed posts straight-set win over Elwin in quarters

The left-handed Elwin had Vijay in all sorts of trouble before the top seed brought all his back-court skills to the fore to register a 7-5, 7-5 win. Former Davis Cupper Vijay Kannan, too, made it to the last-four stage with a straight-set victory against fifth-seed Ajai Selvaraj.

In the women's section, Seeulee Upadhyaya kept her winning run intact to set up her maiden AITA women's semifinal against Parija Maloo. The Orissa girl upset Tamil Nadu’s fourth-seeded Sindhu Nila Partheepan 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.

Isha Lakhani and Archana Venkatraman, meanwhile, clinched the women’s doubles title beating the inexperienced Shalaka Uddur and Sowjanya Bevisetti 6-2, 6-2.
Elwin Anthony and Sharon Paul combined to march into the mixed doubles final with a win over Sagar Ahuja and Sowmya Pulumati 9-2
