Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, Association members Madhu Bopanna, B T Dinesh and others strictly asked the so called environmentalists to stay out of any environment protection programmes until they receive clean chit in all the allegations. “The government must confiscate the foreign funds flown into the pockets of fake environmentalists,” they said. “The government must immediately give nod for the proposal of railway connectivity to Kodagu and construction of National Highway from Kerala to Bangalore passing through Kodagu. The intended Railawy Regional meeting which is supposed to be held in Mysore, should be held in Madikeri,” said Madhu Bopanna.

He urged to provide geographical index to Kodagu coffee in the lines of orange. It would enable coffee grown in Kodagu to occupy a distinct position in the global scenario. If the Kodagu coffee gets international accreditation, then it would lead to the increase in coffee value and thereby help the coffee growers, opined Bopanna. Meanwhile, he stressed that the Association would support all such environmental protection projects which would help for the development of Kodagu by not harming the public, he said.

“Documents revealing the misappropriations of fake environmentalists in the region have been submitted to the UNESCO representatives Dr Vendi and Dr Briyan who had arrived at the district to inspect Kodagu in the backdrop of including Talacauvery, Brahmagiri and Pushpagiri in the list of World Heritage places. Dr Vendi has submitted the documents to the World Heritage Places Committee,” said Bopanna.
