Briefing reporters, Hyundai WIA President & CEO H S Lheem said the new plant could come up either in Tamil Nadu, close to their current facility, or in Andhra Pradesh. Likewise, the company is planning to set up a plant in Brazil which will go on stream soon.
Lheem also announced commencement of company’s first plant near Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, in which it is investing US$4 million. The company plans to open a technical centre each in Chennai and Delhi. It is in discussion with General Motors India to supply transmissions, Lheem added.
