Is there a connection between Akshay Kumar’s De Dana Dan and Dhan Dhana Dhan? Sharmila insists that there’s nothing in common between the two films.  The movie is a romantic thriller where Sharmila plays the role of a modern girl.

“It’s a love triangle and above all it’s the story of a love between a brother and a sister. I play the sister of a very rich doctor. He’s protective about his little sister.

The twist in the tale happens when a underworld don who’s one among the most wanted criminals falls in love with the sister. The doctor puts up a brave fight to save his sister,” Sharmila tells Metrolife.

Talking more about her character, Sharmila says she’s glad that it’s not a soft character, “The character I play in the movie is a modern, lively person and a lot like how I am in person.

I always like challenging roles. I think the most difficult role for me was the one I played in Krishna and in Kari Charithe where I played a petite housewife which is not in keeping with my character in real,” says Sharmila.

Sharmila is not only busy in the Kannada film industry, she’s got offers coming her way from the Tamil industry as well. Her latest film in Tamil is Thillu Mullu where she plays the love interest of Vinay.

“I am looking forward to the release of the movie. I have worked really hard for this character, I don’t speak a word of Tamil and the director was keen that I get my lisping right so we had to schedule the shooting only after I got that right,” says Sharmila.

Is Bollywood the next stop?

“I would never sign just about any movie from the Hindi film industry.”

“The role and the script have to offer something new and substantial for me. Besides, I think I will stay in the South Indian film industry because we have some of the best technicians and directors,” she says and adds, “I think every actor must be passionate about the role he or she is doing. You can’t take up something just to be in the league,” she sums up.
