Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Guest Lecturers Association, Udupi Unit President Anand Poojary said that the guest faculty should be considered on par with the permanent faculty and they should be given the facilities available to any full time lecturer.
The protestors said that the monthly honourarium is not being released regularly. The government should take measures to pay the remuneration on time. Service of the guest faculties should be counted and certificate should be issued for their service. Social security for the job should be the major concern, he added.
He said guest faculty should be made permanent counting their experience. The retirement age should be 58, besides they should be paid for all the 12 months in a year. Retired lectures should not be chosen for the post of guest lecture. SLET exams should be conducted similar to NET exams, he said.
