The delimitation committee has included Talaguppa hobli (Sagar taluk) in the Sorab Assembly constituency, which Minister Halappa represents. Minister Halappa’s frequent visits to Talaguppa had irritated MLA Gopalakrishna, and the latter had publicly expressed his disappointment over the same.

Minister Halappa had convened a meeting of officials in Sagar on Saturday, to discuss the natural calamity in Talaguppa hobli. Belur Gopalakrishna, who perceived this to be encroachment into his territory, barged into the meeting hall with his supporters. He hurled abuses against the Minister, referring to him in the singular. Gopalakrishna even went on the extent of challenging Halappa to tender resignation to his post, and contest the election against him (Gopalakrishna) in Sagar. “Proximity with Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has made you arrogant,” Gopalakrishna said.

Reacting to this tirade, Minister Halappa has said that MLA Gopalakrishna was intimated about the meet, and his behaviour was uncalled for.

Legislator Bharati Shetty who was present at the spot, pacified the duo and defused the tension.
