The occasion was 62nd Republic Day organised by Aniketana Seva Trust at Sougandhika Park on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar.

Local lad and singer Vijay Prakash of ‘Jai ho...’ fame accompanied by another popular singer M D Pallavi transported the connoisseurs of music to an altogether different world.
Santha Shishunala Sharief’s ‘Tharavalla thagi ninna tamburi swara..’, ‘Nodaiah Kwate lingave..’ from ‘Duniya, ‘All is well...’ from the runaway hit ‘3 idiots’ among several other all time hit songs rendered with finesse forced the gathering to crave for some more entertainment.

How can one forget ‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli...’ from Dr Rajkumar’s ‘Akasmika’. Vijay Prakash sang the song reminding the thespian who had lent his voice for  the original. It was received by the fans of the great actor with whistles that filled the air for a while.

Recreates magic

Pallavi who won State award for that particular song from Vijay starrer ‘Duniya’ recreated the magic, proving her tryst with music again. ‘Yaava kaviyu bareyalara...’, ‘Kannotadinda...’, ‘Hrudayadalli nee bareda prema geetheya...’, ‘Ede thumbi haadidenu andu naanu..’ were among other renditions.

Perfect entertainer

Even as the programme was on, people were still seen trickling inside the park, adding to the swelling crowd.

People standing on either side of the road set an ample proof of their love for music, that soothed their senses.
