He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Language Training Lab’ at Yuvaraja’s College (Autonomous) here on Saturday.

Observing the importance of learning more languages, Vishwanath cited the example of Union External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, who is unaware of Hindi language.

He said during the Parliament session, BJP members used only Hindi for communication. Also the lack of quality translators, caused Krishna to falter in giving his reply.

While stating that the country was witnessing a wide range of politics because of language, he said that students shouldn’t hesitate to embrace other languages. Mentioning that government colleges have better human resources as compared to private colleges, Vishwanath urged students to make use of their knowledge.

University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof V G Talawar said that multinational companies are coming for recruitments.

Communication skills

However, they only take the creamy layer of students and fail to hire students from rural backgrounds.
The reason is the lack of communication skills, which students from rural areas need to develop, he added.

He said that more computers and language training material will be provided to students of Maharaja’s, Yuvaraja’s and university students so that they can improve their language skills.
