Pay hike for anganwadi workers

Patil said his department had proposed a Rs-500 hike in the honorarium paid to anganwadi workers from the present Rs 2,500 per month and for anganwadi helpers from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500 per month.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has in principle agreed to the hike, which will cost the State exchequer an additional Rs 55 crore, he said. Patil said the government would soon increase the upper limit for medical cover for anganwadi workers from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000.
