State BJP chief's plea to Opposition

Last Updated 07 February 2011, 18:43 IST

Speaking to media persons in the City on Monday, he suggested the Opposition o use Legislative sessions as the forum to discuss the failures of the Government.

Nowhere in the nation, Opposition parties would announce stalling the proceedings of the House even before the session is convened.

Opposition parties have confined their role to issue statements against Chief Minister in the media. However, they should realise that participation in Legislative session would provide them an opportunity to embarrass the Government, he remarked.

On disclosure of assets by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said: “All legislators have already submitted details on their assets to the Lokayukta. I wonder why B S Yeddyurappa ventured to disclose his assets at this juncture. It was a general appeal by senior BJP leader L K Advani to all chief ministers to make public the details of wealth they owned.”

Replying to a query on the Opposition’s criticism of the chief minister for not declaring the assets owned by his family members, he said: “The Opposition leaders should not expect us to act according to their directions.”

Eshwarappa demanded that the Governor apologise to Kannadigas for his refusal to
approve the Bangalore University proposal to accord honorary doctorate on Dr M Chidanandamurthy.

On Janata Party President Subrahmanian Swamy’s petition to the Tamil Nadu Governor seeking permission to prosecute Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in 2G Spectrum scam, he said by according permission to prosecute Yeddyurappa, Governor Bharadwaj had set a bad precedent.

Henceforth Governor’s office in other States will also be misused for political vendetta, he noted.
