The election to the post of President and Vice-President was held at DCC Bank hall on Monday afternoon. Mathanda A Ramesh and Bharathkumar could fetch eight votes each.

BJP’s M B Devaiah who contested for the post of President and Thalooru Kishorkumar who contested for the post of Vice-President could fetch five votes each. Bank’s Administrative Board has 11 seats. In the recent election, JD(S) had fetched six seats and BJP five seats. However, JD(S) won three seats through lottery. As a result, it could retain its power in the bank.

State Apex Bank nominated member N B Somaiah has cast his vote in favour of JD(S). However, JD(S) has got one additional vote. Whether District Co-operative Societies Deputy Registrar Jafrullakhan had cast his vote to JD(S) or one member from BJP was involved in cross voting in favour of BJP is an interesting question.

Speaking after the election, Bank President M A Ramesh said: “I will work honestly for the development of the bank keeping aside all the party-affiliations.”
