There was a gush of excitement at the Abhimani Convention Hall in Basaveswaranagar.

Understandably, for it was the celebration of our very own Shivrajkumar’s 48th birthday.

The Hat-trick Star has always been known as the people’s man. Everyone, from a child to an elderly man or woman, wanted to be a part and parcel of the bash. For them it was an important event in history.

An hour and a half later, Shivrajkumar, accompanied by his wife Geetha and brother Raghavendra Rajkumar, trooped in to the howls, screams, whistles and hoots from his fans.

Although the entry was restricted to invitees, the aam janata had managed to sneak in through the rear entrance.

While the so called bigwigs stole every available opportunity to latch on to Shivrajkumar by embracing him before the clicking cameras, the commoners hooted in excitement.

Soon, Shivrajkumar was asked to cut a large cake with the crowds merrily recording the event on their mobile phone cameras. It was evident that Shivrajkumar was more than overwhelmed. Clad in an ordinary tee and jeans, he simply sunk into the spirit of the evening. “I am so happy that people still have faith in me and believe that I can give them the best even after so many years in the film industry. It’s truly inspiring and challenging and I won’t shake people’s faith in me,” Shivrajkumar told Metrolife.

Books were distributed to children who had been called from some of the schools in the City and among them were the visually impaired students of Sheshadripuram School of the Blind.

The celebration was organised by the Akhila Karnataka Shivrajkumar Sena Samiti.
