On July 7, during the wee hours, two bodies, subsequently identified as that of Naveen (27) of Channapatna and Girish (29) of Goravanahalli, were found in an abandoned van on 8th Main, Harinagar BDA Layout near JP Nagar.

Alok Kumar, Joint commissioner (Crime) told mediapersons about the role of notorious rowdy Arsayya in the crime. Arasayya is currently housed in Ramanagara jail. Gunda, a close aide of Arsayya with the help of Appi, Naveen's friend hatched the plot and allegedly murdered Naveen and Girish, he said.

Naveen and Muddukrishna who were into financing were at loggerheads for various reasons. Recently, Naveen's brother Santosh was murdered. Naveen suspected Muddukrishna's hand behind his brother's death and tried to take revenge but Muddukrishna escaped unhurt.  Meanwhile, Muddukrishna landed up in Ramanagara jail after he was booked for a petty case by the Channapatna police.  It was here he got in touch with Arsayya and clinched a deal - supari of Rs 10 lakh - to eliminate Naveen. He also paid Rs 3 lakh as advance. Appi, Arsayya's man and also a friend of Naveen was instrumental in inviting Naveen to Bangalore.

Arsayya instructed Gunda to rope in a few boys to finish off Naveen. While Appi, Babu, Sachin, Naveen and Giri were moving towards JP Nagar, Appi, Babu and Sachin, slit the throats of Naveen and Giri, left the vehicle and fled the scene, the police said.

Among the arrested are Shivakumar alias Gunda (27), Gauravnagar, Muddukrishna alias Muddu (37), Channapatna, Anand (26), Laggere, Inayathulla Sheriff (22) Chandra Layout, Appi alias Srinivas (22), Kanteeravanagar, Manjunath (19) Bannerghatta Road, Satish alias Sachi (24) JP Nagar, Chandru alias Drum (22) JP Nagar, Bhairesh alias Bhaira (18) Laxmidevi Nagar, Babu (28) Banavara and Raju alias Dharmaraju (29) Nelagedaranahalli.
