JOIN US“Hum karoron rupia Delhi se bhejten hain par woh vikas mein kharch nahin hota...ye sarkar murtiyan banati hai” (we send crores of rupees from Delhi but this government does not spend it on development..it only installs statues), Rahul said while addressing a meeting in Amethi. “Every political leader has some priorities...the UP chief minister's priorities are installing statues, building memorials and parks”, Rahul remarked later in an informal interaction with reporters. “Along with the statues, there should also be place for development”, he added.
On a day long thanks-giving visit to Amethi, the Congress general secretary urged the people to bring the party to power in UP so that their problems could be resolved. “We are working with our one hand tied...the state government is creating obstacles in Amethi and Raebareli”, he alleged.
Referring to the acute shortage of power in his constituency, Rahul said the Centre could put up electricity poles and build transformers but it is the state government's responsibility to supply power.
The Congress leader also met those who were injured in the police lathicharge while protesting erratic power supply in Amethi a few days back.
