The division bench headed by Justice Manjunath, however said on Friday that the inquiry will not be ordered if the parties to the petition admit their mistake and apologise.

While both the parties denied any role, the counsel for the Bangalore ISKCON tried hard to convince the court to ignore the matter saying that hundreds of such incidents happen at Supreme Court.

He also said that the photo album was stolen from ISKCON premises.

Litigant terrorism

However Udaya Holla, Counsel for the appellants (ISKCON, Mumbai), seeking an inquiry said that such type of “litigant terrorism” should be crushed. The matter was adjourned to next week.

It may be recalled that a letter with a photograph showing Justice Manjunath receiving a picture of Lord Krishna as a gift from ISKCON, Bangalore during his visit to the temple in 2003,  was sent to him.  The letter mentioned that the judge should not take up the case as he is closely associated with the ISKCON, Bangalore.
