Policemen honoured

 He was addressing a gathering of policemen and their relatives on Friday, while giving away awards to 37 police officers and personnel for arresting the criminals behind the bomb blasts in churches and other places in 2000, and taking the case to the logical end by leading the investigation to conviction of majority of the arrested persons. The police had arrested as many as 27 criminals. Of them, 11 were given the capital punishment while 12 were given lifer. The remaining four were acquitted due to absence of adequate evidences.

The Home Minister said in appreciation “This is a great job done by the police. You have brought a good name to the Karnataka police,” He added that the work done by the police in this case should be a guiding star for the rest of the force.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh said the investigation was done in such a systematic way and the reports were drafted so nicely that the court found no difficulty in holding the accused guilty and awarding them with maximum punishments including death penalty. He hailed the retired DGP  and IG Srikumar, who was then heading the CoD when the gang was busted.
